It was with this in mind that the Association pour le Développement du Bâtiment Bas Carbone (BBCA) was born in 2015, bringing together the main players in the act of building, a hundred or so members, property developers, investors, local authorities, planners, renowned architects, design offices and builders.
The BBCA Association aims to :
Raise awareness of the urgent need to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings
Develop knowledge about low-carbon building
Promote best practices (BBCA label)
Encourage low-carbon construction

Some key dates :
2015 : Launch of the Association for the Development of Low-Carbon Building (BBCA).
2016 : BBCA launches the first label to certify a building's exemplary carbon footprint over the three phases of its construction-exploitation-end-of-life cycle.
2017: BBCA joins the steering committee for the E+C- (Energie positive- Réduction carbone) experiment, which enshrines carbon as a priority in future environmental building regulations (RE-2020).
2018 : Launch of the BBCA Rénovation label, 40 buildings have already received the BBCA label: offices, collective housing, the first hotel and the first school, presentation of the BBCA Quartier study.
2019: the BBCA label becomes the carbon requirement label for buildings for the 2024 Olympic Games. Publication of the 1st annual ranking of low-carbon property developers. 23 BBCA buildings presented at the BBCA Forum 2019.
2020 : Publication of the BBCA Low-Carbon Construction Manual for decision-makers.
2021 : Palmarès Maîtres d'ouvrage 2021. 1st BBCA Low-Carbon Territories 2021. 50 buildings awarded the label in 2021. Annual BBCA Forum at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, attended by Jean Jouzel.
2022: 1st edition of Sibca (Salon de l'Immobilier Bas Carbone) at the ephemeral Grand Palais opposite the Eiffel Tower, launched and organized by the BBCA Association with France Conventions. Launch of 3 new labels: BBCA Quartier, BBCA Exploitation and Contribution Neutralité.
2023: 2nd Sibca at the ephemeral Grand Palais, launch of the BBCA Commerce and BBCA Hôtel labels, and the European Low Carbon Building Initiative. Launch of the BBCA Mooc on low-carbon construction.
