CSR at the heart of the Maison de l'Innovation
From the outset, the Maison de l'Innovation project has been conceived as a true CSR demonstrator, incorporating the best environmental features and a high degree of innovation.
Energy, low-carbon, reuse, biodiversity and social commitment are the main themes at the heart of the project.
Here are a few explanations of these features:
Structure: a concrete base to meet the dual constraints of safety and seismic risk; for the rest of the building: a post-and-beam timber structure, 80% of which is labelled "bois de France".
Re-use: almost 100% of the false floors are re-used; on-site recovery of some of the materials from the demolished building; facade composed of 45% recycled aluminum.
Bioclimatism: entirely bioclimatic envelope; blinds arranged according to the orientation of the façade; air fans; night-time air circulation system to cool the building via the atrium, etc.
Heating: provided by passive equipment recovering heat from the server rooms and IT bays (75% of office and kitchen requirements covered); connection to the ERENA district heating network (100% renewable energy via biomass).
Cold production for cooling: Dry adiabatic (environmentally-friendly water evaporation cooling system) + Cooling unit
School partnerships: Lycée Professionnel Michelet; Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique, etc.
Integration employment: more than 13,000 hours offered, in conjunction with Nantes Métropole and Pôle Emploi, to promote training and a return to employment for people in difficulty.
Biodiversity:
Strategy for welcoming living creatures: nesting boxes for swifts on roofs; nesting boxes for chickadees, sparrows, redstarts and bats; pierrier (?); insect shelters.
Landscaping strategy: in the open ground, a natural, fragrant garden; on the roof: urban agriculture and a melliferous meadow (species specially selected to produce nectar and pollen for "useful" insects); on the terrace: irrigated planters.
Labels and certifications: BiodiverCity, Osmoz (promoting good CSR practices in terms of living environment and user well-being) and R2S (intelligent building operation and control by occupants).
HQE Bâtiment Durable: aims to enhance a building's environmental performance, reduce energy consumption and improve user health and comfort.
Osmoz: aims to support, assess and promote good CSR practices to improve living conditions and well-being.
E2C1: aims to limit energy consumption and develop buildings with a low carbon footprint throughout their life cycle, from construction to demolition.
R2S: to promote the commitment of players in the construction and real estate industry to connected and communicating buildings
BiodiverCity: aims to guarantee the diversity of environments and species, and their interaction with human activities.
