Batichene is a 100% oak cross-laminated panel (CLT)

CLT oak for sustainable architectural projects:
France's forestry and timber industry is key to achieving carbon neutrality in construction. The development of new wood construction products and the use of new hardwood species such as oak are the levers for achieving this.
It was around this project that some fifteen SMEs from the wood and construction sectors came together in 2012 within the Bois Croisés de Bourgogne association to work on this subject.
10 years of research and experimentation later, the development of a manufacturing and installation process for oak CLT panels has been born, offering a new way of adding value to this local resource.

Oak, a material of excellence:
Durable, available and renewable, oak is the ideal material for the construction of tomorrow. Its ability to capture and then trap CO2, up to 1200kg per m3, and its life cycle make it an excellent ecological alternative.
Until now, CLT has been a popular construction material, made from softwood and often imported into France. The creation of a local hardwood product is therefore a real innovation for this sector and for the future of construction.
As a guarantee, BatiChêne CLT is certified by an Enquête de Technique Nouvelle. This offers users recognition of the product's quality, while guaranteeing customers, in partnership with certain inspection offices, the insurability of the construction project.

Product benefits:

Exceptional static properties: wood's lightness, compressive strength, exceptional rolling shear, significant gain in equivalent inertia compared to softwood, reduced footprint.
Fire resistance: Depending on use and configuration, BatiChêne panels are classified REI30 to REI60.

Environmental advantages:
Made-to-measure production: no standard, flexible production with no loss of material
Carbon storage: 1200kg of CO2/m3, up to +60% compared with a softwood material
Short supply chain: local sourcing, use of secondary-grade oak
Life cycle: short supply distances (around 150km from the production site), absence of harmful substances and natural durability, reusable solid wood.

Thermal and acoustic insulation: insulating capacity, thermal effusivity, high density
Respectful of the environment and the well-being of its users, Batichêne guarantees a healthy, pleasant interior. Its high density and low effusivity make this solution both a thermal and acoustic insulator.

Manufactured in our Charolais plant, each BatiChêne CLT panel uses wood from local, sustainably managed forests, minimizing the carbon footprint of construction sites. (PEFC certification)
