Halton is a global technology leader in indoor air solutions for demanding commercial and public premises, workspaces, healthcare facilities and laboratories, professional kitchens, ships, power generation and industrial environments. Halton's mission is to provide end-users with safe, comfortable and productive indoor environments that are energy-efficient and in line with the principles of sustainable development. Founded in Finland in 1969, the Halton Group today employs 1,900 people in over 35 countries. By 2023, the company will have achieved sales of 300 million euros.
Halton and Phononic have completed the first TTAP office project to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving user comfort. .
Halton, a leader in HVAC innovation and indoor air comfort solutions, and Phononic, a world leader in sustainable solid-state cooling, have entered into a strategic licensing partnership to market TTAP (Peltier Air Handling Terminal) technology, an HVAC solution that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Drawing on Halton's experience in indoor climate solutions to produce the concept, the solid-state technology perfects the TTAP concept and the refreshing innovation it brings to commercial HVAC infrastructure. This new approach eliminates planet-warming refrigerants and offers building owners and developers a sustainable solution that significantly reduces a building's CO2 emissions throughout its lifecycle.
In 2024, Halton and Phononic delivered the first commercial installation of the "TTAP" technology, Peltier Air Treatment Terminal. This installation, in a historic 8,500 m2 building in the heart of Paris, is the world's first and largest solid-state HVAC platform, enabling significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions while improving user comfort in the workplace. This is the first installation of this scale, following the announcement of the strategic licensing partnership between Phononic and Halton in September 2023, enabling TTAP's foray into the commercial real estate market.
Built in the 19th century, the Pierre Charron building is an architectural marvel, which over the years has played host to a number of leading Parisian personalities, including the Comte de Bourmène, Ernest May, publisher Kalmus Lévy and many others. Renovated several times during its history, the building now plans to accommodate up to 850 employees and 1,000 m2 of commercial space, taking advantage of its strategic location 50 meters from the Champs Elysées. To modernize the b tment to meet today's requirements for comfort and sustainability, while preserving its architectural integrity, the developers of the Pierre Charron building turned to the TTAP platform, which could be easily integrated into the b tment's HVAC infrastructure, ensuring its heating and cooling while emitting significantly less CO2, thus meeting carbon neutrality objectives. Fully electrified, the TTAP eliminates the need for plumbing or complex infrastructure, and its dual cooling and heating function enables tailored comfort, with the ability to simultaneously heat one room while cooling another, all from a single system, with a flexible and elegant design.
"When Balzac acquired and renovated the Pierre Charron building, our aim was to provide its tenants with the most sustainable and comfortable premises," said François Menage, General Manager of Balzac. "TTAP is the ideal HVAC solution to make our tenants want to return to the office."
