The Carnot Institute MECD (Materials and Equipment for Sustainable Construction) is a key player in research and development in the construction sector in France. Awarded a four-year certification in 2020, its primary mission is to accelerate the transfer of innovations to advance materials, equipment, and engineering toward more sustainable solutions.
MECD is a unique alliance bringing together six complementary entities (CERIB, CTICM, CTMNC, FCBA, the Pascal Institute, and the LMDC). This collaboration allows MECD to offer R&D services covering the entire construction lifecycle, from materials design to deconstruction, including the optimization of manufacturing processes and the modularity of housing.
Our offer is structured around five thematic "Mixinov" platforms:
1. User comfort and building envelope: Design of building envelopes optimized for thermal, acoustic and visual comfort.
2. Sustainability: Study of the phenomena of degradation and aging of structures to propose solutions increasing their longevity.
3. Circular economy: Development of environmental solutions for the construction sector, including the reuse and recovery of materials.
4. Structures and constructions: Expertise on the behavior of innovative multi-material structures, in normal and accident conditions
5. Conceptlab: supporting all stakeholders in construction and development from idea to proof of concept through various creative processes
Thanks to this synergy between academic research and industrial expertise, the Carnot MECD Institute positions itself as an essential partner for companies wishing to innovate and respond to the energy, environmental and societal challenges of sustainable construction.
