LE RELAIS: A company like no other, founded on the values of solidarity and generosity, has been creating sustainable jobs for 40 years by integrating people in situations of exclusion. Convinced that getting people in difficulty back to work is a way of helping them preserve their dignity, regain their financial independence and their place in society, LE RELAIS has developed several economic activities, which have enabled it to create over 2,200 jobs. For more than a decade, the quality of textile manufacturing has been steadily declining, making it impossible to envisage a second life for textiles collected through traditional reuse and recycling channels. As part of its R&D activities, LE RELAIS therefore set out to find new outlets. This is how Métisse® was born.
The various MÉTISSE products manufactured by LE RELAIS are fully compliant with legislation and user expectations in terms of summer/winter thermal and acoustic comfort, not to mention social aspects.
MÉTISSE insulation products are made from textiles, mainly cotton, collected and sorted by LE RELAIS on an average 500 km textile collection and insulation delivery circuit.
In addition to their summer and winter comfort benefits, which limit the energy consumption of buildings, they also contribute to the recycling of textiles at the end of their life cycle, and the re-used textile fibers subtract the quantity of biogenic carbon contained in the cotton from the carbon footprint of insulation manufacture.
These carbon values are documented and certified by the various INIES environmental data sheets. What's more, our manufacturing approach is based on a process that requires little energy and no water. For example, the oven temperature for fiber topping is a maximum of 130°C.
